2018 Daihatsu Terios/Toyota Rush to be unveiled on Nov 23 - Report

Indonesian publication AutonetMagz is reporting that the 2018 Daihatsu Terios and 2018 Toyota Rush will be unveiled on November 23, 2017. Although the duo has already been spotted testing in what appears to be close to production-ready form, they were not expected to arrive until the start of 2018.

Contrary to previous reports suggesting the next-gen Terios/Rush was scheduled to arrive in 2018, the latest report claims the compact SUVs will be launched on Nov 23.

The report adds that the next-gen Terios/Rush will look radically different from the current models. Features will be added to both products and the price will witness an increase. The 2018 Toyota Rush is reported to cost upwards of IDR 300 million (INR 1,446,398) for some variants. The range-topping trims are expected to get 6 airbags.

Recent spy pictures of the new Terios/Rush reveal styling similar to the Daihatsu FT Concept from the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. Leaked documentation has also revealed the front and rear bumper designs.

the FT Concept was touted to pack a 1.5L 4-cyl petrol engine. Although there is no official word on it yet. The current Daihatsu Terios packs the same engine, which produces 109 PS and 14.4 kg-m paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.

The design of the new Daihatsu Terios is expected to borrow heavily from the company's FT Concept.

TKM has expressed interest in bringing a compact SUV to India in the past. However, the Rush was deemed unfeasible since it wasn't able to incorporate a diesel powertrain. However, Toyota may have taken care to develop diesel variants of the new Rush keeping the Indian market in mind.
