The 2018 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP is a lighter, more hardcore version of the regular Fireblade. The Fireblade SP is Honda’s first motorcycle to come with semi-active Ohlins Electronic Control (S-EC) suspension. It also gets lithium ion battery, quick-shifter with slipper clutch and Brembo front callipers. The motorcycle is 1 kg lighter than the normal variant, at 195 kg (kerb). Instrumentation is a multi-functional TFT LCD screen which shows lap times, lap number, riding modes, and split timings as well.

The standard variant gets 43 mm upside down Big Piston Front Fork with preload, compression and rebound adjustment. The rear comes with Unit ProLink with gas charged HMAS damper featuring 10-step preload and stepless compression and rebound damping adjustment.

Powering the Fireblade is a 999 cc in-line four liquid-cooled DOHC engine. It punches out 191.7 PS of power at 13,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. The engine works in tandem with a 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch and Quickshifter. The two variants rival Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, Ninja ZX-10RR, Yamaha YZF-R1, Suzuki GSX-R1000R, and GSX-R1000.
