2018 Hyundai Santro to offer feature-packed touchscreen infotainment - Report
Car Dekho reports that the Hyundai AH2, which will most likely reboot the 'Santro' brand in India, will offer a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. This is the same feature-laden system that made its debut on the recently updated Hyundai Elantra.
The infotainment unit is powered by a faster processor than the 5-inch system on the lower variants of the India-spec Creta and Verna. It supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features it offers include FM/AM, media player, Bluetooth, a display for reverse parking camera, and telephone options. This system is likely to be reserved for the high-end Asta trim, as observed in the variant walk of the Renault Kwid.
In price positioning, the Hyundai AH2 will be slotted below the Grand i10. The tallboy will reportedly replace the Eon. Underpinning it will be an updated version of the i10's HA platform. The car will challenge the Maruti WagonR, Renault Kwid 1.0, and Tata Tiago.
Powering the Hyundai AH2 is an updated version of the 1.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that powered the earlier i10. For the last generation i10, this engine provided a maximum power & torque output of 68 bhp & 99 Nm. It came mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The Hyundai AH2 will receive a BSVI-compliant iteration of the same engine. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT. The Automated Manual Transmission from Hyundai 'Smart Auto' will reportedly find its way to the next-generation Grand i10 and Elite i20. Earlier spy images have revealed that the 2018 Santro will ride on 14-inch steel wheels shod with Ceat 'FUELSMARRT' tires.
