2018 Hyundai Veloster spied on test

Could retain the three-door layout like the current generation model.

A purported 2018 Hyundai Veloster test mule has been spied in South Korea. Hyundai's coupe-styled hatchback is likely to get a second generation model later this decade.

The Hyundai Veloster was given a facelift just last year, and thus, the new generation model won't arrive before 2017.

It was recently reported that the Hyundai i30 range will be extended with more body styles in the future. One of these new derivatives will be an estate version, while the other will be something sporty but not a 3-door hatchback. Since then, some media outlets have speculated that the second derivative could be a fastback-styled version, similar to the Veloster.

If the aforementioned second derivative is on the cards, it becomes unclear how a redesigned Hyundai Veloster would be positioned in the range.

The twin center exhaust indicates that this could be the 'N' variant.

Like the current Hyundai Veloster, the test mule also appears to have the handle of the right-side rear door hidden in the C-pillar. The portion behind the B-pillar on the left side has been camouflaged hinting that there's no door (just like the current Veloster). The red finish on the lower bumper and twin tip centre exhaust suggest this could be the performance 'turbo' or 'N' variant.
