Will go on sale in H1 2017.

A speculative rendering from OmniAuto.it shows how the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited may look like.

The next-gen Jeep Wrangler will be a body-on-frame SUV.

Going with the tradition, Jeep will give the Wrangler an evolutionary redesign for its fourth generation. As depicted in the rendering, the new design won't be leaps ahead of the current model, keeping things familiar for Jeep enthusiasts. The boxy body, 7 slot grille, round headlights and trapezoidal wheel-arches will still have their presence to make the Wrangler instantly recognizable. The folding windshield will be replaced by a more raked, fixed windshield.

The next-gen Jeep Wrangler will still be a body-on-frame SUV, but with more usage of aluminum in its shell for weight reduction and improved fuel economy. The U.S.-spec 2018 Jeep Wrangler is expected to sport an upgraded version of the current 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine for the base model. Also on offer, will be a new 2.0-liter "Hurricane" turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that will be more powerful than the V6 engine. Interior spyshots have revealed that Jeep is testing 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmissions in the next-gen model.

The current Jeep Wrangler will continue being produced alongside the 2018 Jeep Wrangler for about 6 months after the latter reaches dealerships.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will be built in Toledo, Ohio in the USA. It's reported to go on sale in H1 2017, which means that it could be formally introduced at the 2017 North American International Auto Show. The third-gen model will reportedly continue being produced for about six months after the fourth generation model reaches dealerships.
