2018 Kawasaki Z900 RS - IAB Rendering
IAB’s in-house designer Shoeb R Kalania has rendered the 2018 Kawasaki Z900 RS. Kawasaki will unveil the modern classic at the 2017 Tokyo Motor show that opens on October 25.
The 2018 Kawasaki Z900 RS is based on its naked sibling, the Kawasaki Z900. However, this motorcycle features classic design lines for retro appeal. The bike pays homage to the Kawasaki Z1 from the 1970’s. It was introduced in 1972 and drew power from a 903 cc in-line four air-cooled engine. Its chief rival was the legendary Honda CB750. Fast forwarding to the present, Kawasaki has blessed the Z900 RS with modern underpinnings for a better riding experience. Kawasaki teased the motorcycle last month.

The four-to-one exhaust system gets chrome finish. The footpegs are of aluminium. The seating position is upright with wide handlebars, but the footpegs are rear-set. The motorcycle comes with a single-piece bench-type seat. The LED headlight and tail light are circular. The bike features twin-pod instrument cluster.

It employs the same 948cc in-line four engine with liquid cooling that powers the Z900. In the naked motorcycle, it makes 125 PS of power and 98.6 Nm of torque. The engine pairs with a 6-speed transmission. Expect the modern-classic motorcycle’s engine to be torque-heavy.
The bike features upside down front fork and monoshock at the rear. Coming to the brakes, the motorcycle comes with dual discs at the front with radial callipers and a single disc at the rear. Both brakes have ABS.
