2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift) seen in clearest spy shots yet

The 2018 Maruti Ciaz is just weeks away from going on sale now. Autoportal has posted new spy shots showing the facelifted model in utmost detail to the date.

The 2018 Maruti Ciaz has a bolder front-end.

The 2018 Maruti Ciaz has a bolder front-end that makes it look more stylish and elegant. More angular headlamps with LED daytime running lights, sleeker and wider radiator grille, chrome bonnet applique, inverted lower air intake and a revised bumper with C-shaped chrome detailing are among the key changes at the front.

On the sides, the 2018 Maruti Ciaz has edgier alloy wheels, possibly 16-inchers. At the rear, there are tweaked tail lamps in a design close to that of the Chinese-spec version (Suzuki Alivio Pro).

Inside, there’s new faux wood trim in a lighter shade. The instrument panel has undergone a few revisions. The temperature gauge and fuel gauge are in the tachometer and speedometer respectively now. Instead of SHVS, there’s Smart Hybrid lettering in the speedometer now. The blue-coloured needles are also new. A previous spy shot had shown the MID positioned lower in the new model. Maruti Suzuki has added cruise control feature to its flagship sedan with the mid-life update.

The facelifted Maruti Ciaz will arrive with an all-new K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine. In the 2018 Suzuki Ciaz, the 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 104.7 PS and 138 Nm of torque. The SHVS mild-hybrid system was previously exclusive to the diesel engine model, but now even the petrol engine model will benefit from it. The transmission options will likely remain the same: 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.

As for the diesel engine model, there are various rumours. Initially, it was said that the facelifted Maruti Ciaz diesel will employ an all-new E15A 1.5-litre diesel engine. However, later reports said that Maruti Suzuki has postponed its introduction to 2019. In the latest, a report this month said that there's no plan to offer a diesel engine at launch. We still expect the company to offer the 1.3-litre diesel engine this year.

The 2018 Maruti Ciaz's tail lamps look similar to those of the Suzuki Alivio Pro sold in China.
