The Proton Preve, introduced in 2012 in the Malaysian market, is about to receive some updates for the MY2018. Paultan.org has published spy shots of the 2018 Proton Preve, showing some of the changes arriving for MY2018.

The 2018 Proton Preve has a two-tone exterior colour scheme.

The 2018 Proton Preve features a new body paint called Ruby Red and a gloss black roof for a dual-tone colour scheme. On the sides, new Preve has larger, 17-inch alloy wheels. The current model is available only with 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the boot lid has the new Proton logo which debuted last year in the 2016 Proton Perdana.

The Proton Preve is available with two engine options. One is a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 80 kW (107.24 hp) at 5,750 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Buyers can opt this engine with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed continuously variable transmission. The other option is a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 103 kW (138.07 hp) at 5,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque from 2,000-4,000 rpm. This engine sends drive via the 7-speed ProTronic continuously variable transmission.

Proton will offer the new Proton Preve with only the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
