2018 SsangYong Tivoli (facelift) spotted on test for the first time

While Mahindra engineers work on perfecting the S201, a sub-4 metre version of the SsangYong Tivoli for the Indian market, SsangYong is readying a facelift for the Tivoli. The 2018 SsangYong Tivoli is undergoing road testing in South Korea, spy shots released by Auto Desire have revealed.

The new SsangYong Tivoli could get the Mahindra S201's 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The new SsangYong Tivoli will have most changes at the front and rear, but the heavy camouflage on the test mule doesn't help in understanding the nature of the changes. SsangYong could refresh the styling with changes to the bumpers, headlamp and tail lamp graphics and the grille.

Similarly, the interior changes could also be as per the norm, meaning that one can expect new trim and upholstery. The current model's 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system does not support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration technologies. This could change with the mid-cycle refresh.

The Tivoli is available with a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 128 PS and 160 Nm of torque and a 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops 115 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Mahindra is working on a 140 bhp (141.94 PS) 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine for the S201, and maybe this engine could be offered in the facelifted SsangYong Tivoli, as a replacement for the 1.6-litre petrol engine.

The new SsangYong Tivoli's infotainment system could offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
