2018 Suzuki Swift Sport at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show - Live

Following its global premiere last month at the IAA 2017 in Frankfurt, Suzuki is conducting the Japanese premiere of its newest hot hatch - the 2018 Swift Sport -  at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. It will be priced between JPY 1,836,000 - JPY 2,050,920.

From the exterior, the third generation Suzuki Swift Sport is the most aggressive iteration yet. It features gaping front grille and sporty bumper design, aerodynamic front-lip spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser and roof-end spoiler, as well as  17-inch polished alloy wheels and dual exhaust pipes. The show car is finished in an exclusive 'Champion Yellow' colour derived from the Swift rally car's livery. It measures 3,890 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,500 mm tall, has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm and ground clearance of 120 mm.

The interior design, however, is mostly similar to the regular Swift hatchback. Exclusive to the Swift Sport are sports seats with thicker, body-hugging bolsters, chrome finished shift knob, sports alloy pedals, gloss red trim and contrast red stitching all over the cabin, as well as “Sport” branding. It can be had with a 7inch Panasonic touchscreen head unit with a 360-degree camera, sat-nav, Bluetooth and radio. Also available is a safety package comprising of Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS), Lane departure warning, Weaving alert function, and Adaptive cruise control.

Powering the Swift Sport is a 1.4-litre turbocharged 'Boosterjet' four-cylinder petrol mill that develops 140 PS at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque from 2,500-3,500 rpm in it. It can be had with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic (with paddle shifters) transmission, although there's no option of an AWD system. The JC08 rated fuel economy of the all-new Swift Sport is 16.4 km/l (6MT) and 16.2 km/l (6AT).
