Toyota has started production of the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in Japan. Fresh spy shots published by Livedoor Blog show a batch of new Land Cruiser Prado units ready for deliveries.

The 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will have its world premiere at IAA 2017 on 12 September 2017

For the MY2018, the fourth generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will get a second facelift. The new model has a more imposing face, some minor visual tweaks at the rear, as well as a fresh interior design. At the front, the more upright 5-slot radiator grille is flanked by aggressive headlamps with LED lighting, the front bumper is more muscular with protruding outer ends, and the new fog lamps have an angular design.

Other exterior changes worth noting are the restyled rear apron and the darkened tail lamps with tweaked graphics. Lower-end grades will still settle for steel wheels and black door handles, and won't feature roof rails or sunroof. Interior changes will include a new steering wheel, revised centre console, redesigned instrument panel and a new infotainment system.

Toyota will offer the Toyota Safety Sense P safety suite in the 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. The new model would feature Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection function, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist function, Automatic High Beams and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Availability of TSS-P may vary based on the market.

Any changes to the engine line-up, if planned, are unknown. The current Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is available with a wide range of options globally, including the 2TR-FE 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol, 7GR-FKS 3.5-litre V6 petrol, 1GR-FE 4.0-litre V6 petrol, 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre four-cylinder, diesel, 1KD-FTV 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel and 5L-E 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel units. Japanese reports indicate Toyota could introduce the Toyota Fortuner's 2GD-FTV 2.4-litre diesel engine with the MY2018 refresh.

Toyota will release the new model in Japan on the day which it debuts at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
