2018 Yamaha R-09 Concept Rendered
SuperStreetBike.com has rendered a concept motorcycle, called the 2018 Yamaha R-09. The bike borrows its engine from the 2017 Yamaha FZ-09.
The website says that the Yamaha R-09 would make 135 PS of power from the FZ-09’s 847cc in-line 3-cylinder DOHC engine. The naked motorcycle generates 115 PS at 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. They have also used the design language of the Yamaha YZF-R6 for the headlight portion, but the side fairing is much smoother with clean lines and is shaped like a shark fin. The lower portion of the fairing is separate. The pillion seat is tiny and is mostly suitable for short rides.

The concept rendering borrows cycle parts like the wheels, suspension and brakes from the Yamaha R6. However, the front brake discs are slotted instead of drilled. Suspension bits on the R6 include 43 mm KYB 3-way adjustable inverted front fork. The rear comes with a KYB 4-way adjustable monoshock. The bike features a longer swingarm for better control and preventing wheelies.
The production version of this concept bike could ideally plug the gap between the R6 and the R1. Its chief rival would be the Ducati Panigale 959. As tempting as the rendering looks, there is no official word whether Yamaha would make a faired version of the FZ-09. The naked motorcycle retails in UK at GBP 7,999, On The Road.
