Audi has removed the wraps on the 2019 Audi Q3, announcing its launch in the European market in November. The second-generation Q3 marks a departure from the rounded design of its predecessor, and according to the company, draws inspiration from the flagship Audi Q8.

Like the Q8, the 2019 Q3 gets vertical grille bars (aside from the Q8 and A4/A6 Allroad, all other Audi models get horizontal grille bars), a sportier front bumper, larger taillights, and A3 Sportback-inspired headlights which now feature Matrix LEDs as an option.

In size, the 2019 Q3 has grown up from its predecessor: It is 9.65 cm longer and a significant chunk of that - 7.6 cm - is added to the wheelbase. Boot space has also gone up; the 2019 Q3 accommodates 530-675 L (depending on rear seat configuration), which is 70 L more space than its predecessor at its smallest capacity.

Inside, the 2019 Audi Q3 certainly looks grown up with its 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit and an 8.8-inch centre dash infotainment display (a 10-inch is available as an option). The 2019 Q3 does not get a separate touch display for the AC controls, instead retains physical dials and buttons with a digital temperature readout.

The 2019 Audi Q3 gets features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, two USB ports in the front, two additional USB ports and a 12-volt outlet for rear seat passengers and a Wi-Fi hotspot as standard. On the safety front, Audi has equipped the Q3 with forward emergency braking, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist and active lane assist.

Audi India is expected to introduce the Q3 by mid-2019 with petrol and diesel engines. The former could borrow the A4's 1.4-liter TFSI unit, while the latter will be a 2.0-liter TDI.
