Check out the revised instrument console on the 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 [Video]

A report from earlier this month claimed that the upcoming 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 would receive a revised cockpit with the gear position indicator, fuel gauge, trip meter and odometer placed on the fuel tank mounted screen. However, no photographic evidence backed the claim. In recent updates, that reported revision of the instrument console has been confirmed by spy video.

The video reveals that the fuel tank mounted instrument console will indeed display the gear position indicator, fuel gauge, trip meter, odometer and the clock. The conventionally mounted unit, on the other hand, will feature tachometer, speedometer, and a fuel gauge. The left top of the screen will display various warning signs such as Side Stand Down, Engine Kill On, etc.

The motorcycle will reportedly arrive in India this month although we are yet to hear an announcement. The bike will come equipped with a BS-VI compliant motor, over a year before the deadline set by the Indian government for the emission compliance. The 2019 Dominar 400 will retain the 373 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine although a report from last month claimed that the upgrade will receive a more powerful and refined engine.

Stopping power will come from a 320mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the back with the safety net of dual-channel ABS and RLP.

Other updates visible in the video include the upside-down telescopic forks and a new design for the exhaust – features that were seen on several occasions in the past via spy images and videos. A monoshock would continue to perform the shock absorption tasks at the rear. The new model is expected to carry a premium of INR 15,000-INR 20,000 over the current ABS model’s INR 1.63 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) tag. The non-ABS version of the motorcycle has been discontinued.

The gear indicator, 2 trip meters, odometer and the clock have been moved to the fuel tank mounted display. The revision makes the information on the primary display less cluttered.

Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto is providing a vibration reduction kit to the current Dominar 400 owners. Owners do not have to pay for either the equipment or the installation.
