While we are yet to hear official details about the launch of the 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400, a report from ThrustZone suggests that the upcoming model will feature a more powerful version of the existing engine.

IAB's render of the new Bajaj Dominar 400 imagines the model with all the upgrades that were noted on the test mules of the motorcycle.

For reference, the outgoing model is tuned to draw 35 PS of maximum power and 35 Nm of peak torque from its 373 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The engine is paired with a six-speed transmission and features a slipper clutch.

The source report claims that the 2019 Dominar 400 is tuned for a flat torque curve and that it will feel more refined than the model that it replaces.

The motorcycle was spotted on various occasions in the past, revealing the visual changes that the 2019 model will pack. For starters, the motorcycle will continue to feature identical styling as the outgoing model. However, the dual-tone colour scheme will come with a mild revision and the updated model will come with more blacked out area on the fuel tank. The major updates, however, will come in the form of premium hardware that will include upside-down telescopic front suspension, a new exhaust design and a larger radiator.

The motorcycle will retain its full LED headlight, split instrument console, MRF tyres and dual-channel ABS from the outgoing model. Previous reports suggested that the 2019 model will also get a ride-by-wire throttle system, and updated instrumentation with features like a gear-position indicator, average fuel efficiency, distance to empty and instantaneous fuel economy.

The upcoming safety standards mandate the installation of Anti-lock Braking System on all motorcycles above 150cc displacement. Bajaj seem to have already discontinued the non-ABS variant of the Dominar 400.

The current Dominar 400 could not achieve the optimistic sales target of 10,000 units every month that was set by the two-wheeler brand. Instead, the flagship Bajaj motorcycle has been able to surpass the 2,000 unit sales mark just once in the first half of this year. Meanwhile, previous reports suggested that Bajaj is also planning to introduce a Scrambler version of the motorcycle that will arrive in India in Q4 FY2018-19.

The 2019 model will reportedly carry a premium of INR 10,000 over the standard model which isn’t a massive jump considering the addition of upside-down front forks, a larger radiator, updated instrument console and a more powerful engine. The report suggests that the 2019 Dominar 400 will be launched in India in December 2018. We are yet to hear any announcement from Bajaj Auto.
