This isn’t the first time that we have seen the red coloured Bajaj Dominar 400. The test mules of the motorcycle were snapped in the same shade, and Bajaj Auto also showcased the paint option in its promotional videos. However, the red colour is yet to be introduced in the Indian market, and the company continues offering its flagship product in Auroral Green and Matte Black paints.

Bajaj Auto officials confirmed during the media ride of the 2019 Dominar 400 that the company can introduce new colour options depending on the demand in the market. The new paint, if launched, will retail at the same prices as the existing colours. For reference, the 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 retails at INR 174,125 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Thanks to the MY2019 update, the sales increased by 59% in May 2019. Bajaj Auto sold 1,888 units of the Dominar 400 in May this year as against 1,191 units in the corresponding month last year.

The 2019 Dominar 400 carries a premium of approximately INR 11,000 over its predecessor. The MY2019 model packs more power and a premium hardware specification over the motorcycle it replaces, thus improving its value-for-money proposition. As compared to the discontinued model, the 373.3 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection on the 2019 Dominar has a DOHC setup. The motor now delivers 40 PS of peak power at 8,650 rpm and 35 Nm of maximum torque at 7,000 rpm. Stopping power comes from 320 mm disc at the front with radially mounted calliper and 230 mm disc at the rear.

The updated hardware includes 43 mm upside down forks at the front as against conventional units on the old model, revised instrument console setup and a new twin barrel exhaust. An adjustable monoshock continues to handle the shock absorption duties at the back. MY2019 update brings forged steel side stand, updated mirror design with cast aluminium stalks, new tank pad decals and bungee straps as well.

Bajaj Auto had revealed the new colour option in a promotional video for the Dominar 400.
