The new BMW X1 has more angular twin headlights in line with those of new generation BMW SAVs.

The facelifted BMW X1 will have minor alterations that bring it a little closer to the latest design trend for the BWM SAVs set by the new generation BMW X3, BMW X2BMW X4 and BMW X5. On that note, the above spy shot shows more angular twin headlights featuring hexagonal light sources. The updated front-end should comprise revised lower air intake also, and a rehashed bumper varying as per the equipment line.

No changes are expected on the BMW X1’s sides, save for newly designed alloy wheels. At the rear, it’s difficult to make out any changes to the bumper design, but’s it’s visible that the tail lamps have undergone some tweaks. The revised tail lamps have a clear-lens stripe at the bottom, probably of the new turn signals. Inside, BMW could introduce a fully-digital instrument cluster among other new features.

The current second-gen BMW X1 is available with 1.5-litre three-cylinder and 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. An iPerformance plug-in hybrid variant is available, however that’s a China-only offering. There’s no word on what mechanical changes are due with the mid-life update. In India, BMW may introduce a 2.0-litre petrol engine option as it wants to expand the availability of petrol engines to the entire line-up.

The new BMW X1 (facelift) could go on sale sometime in 2019.
