India-bound restyled Ford Ka (Ford Figo) hits the Brazilian market
Ford has launched the 2019 Ford Ka (Ford Figo facelift) and 2019 Ford Ka Sedan (Ford Aspire facelift) in Brazil, the same country which was the launch market for the new-age Ford Ka in July 2014. Prices for the updated twins start at 45490 Brazilian Real (INR 8.36 lakhs) and range up to 67990 Brazilian Real (INR 12.5 lakhs) for the Freestyle variant, whereas the Ka sedan retails from 49490 - 65990 Brazilian Reals (INR 9.1 lakhs to INR 12.13 lakhs).
On the outside, the 2019 Ka and Ford Ka sedan get new bumpers with C-shaped styling elements, a sportier grille and updated alloy wheel patterns. Changes on the inside are more significant thanks to the updated dashboard which now sports Ford's SYNC3 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Brazilian media report that Ford has also made changes to the variant walk such that features like AC, reverse parking sensors and driver's seat height adjustment are now available from lower variants.
The 2019 Ka carries on a 1.0-liter three-cylinder flex-fuel engine that delivers 85 hp and 107 Nm when fueled with ethanol, and 80 hp and 102 Nm with gasoline. It is available only with a 5-MT. A 1.5-liter Ti-VCT flex unit is also available on the twins, developing 128 hp and 156 Nm with gasoline and 136 hp and 161 Nm with ethanol. It is paired to a new MX65 5-MT gearbox which is claimed to be 30 lbs (15 kg) lighter than its predecessor. A 6-AT is also available with this engine option. Note that this is the sole engine option on the Freestyle, though buyers can choose between the MT and AT.
