2019 Hyundai Grand i10 spied testing on the Mumbai-Pune expressway

IAB reader Clinton Pereira has spotted a test mule of the 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. The next-gen Grand i10 will reportedly launch in October 2019.

Going by the latest spy pics, the 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 should feature a bold rear bumper with faux air scoops at its terminal edges.

The 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 will be the third all-new model, after the Maruti Vitara Brezza-rivalling Styx (QXi) and the Kona EV, from the South Korean carmaker this year. While it will sport an evolutionary design, its front-end will wear the company's latest look, which is characterised by a cascading grille and angular foglamp housings similar to those on the 2019 Elantra. Other visual highlights that we know of include a rising beltline, bold bumpers, and dual-tone machined alloy wheels on the high-end trims.

The larger footprint should lead to a more spacious cabin that will be brimming with features like a floating-type touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multifunction steering wheel, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and cooled glove compartment.

The 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 will be underpinned by a repurposed version of the BA platform. Powering the new model will be a BSVI-ready iteration of the company's 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. The fast-dwindling sales of diesel-powered small cars and the fact that the introduction of BSVI-compliant oil-burners would make them a tad too expensive could lead to the discontinuation of the 1.2-litre U2 CRDi engine.

The 2019 Hyundai Grand i10, like the current version, will be longer than its European sibling. The new dimensions should help the new model become a stronger rival to the Maruti Swift, which got substantially bigger with the advent of the latest generation.

The petrol motor will likely continue to be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The 4-speed torque-converter automatic unit of the current model, however, will be shown the door to make room for a Smart Auto automated manual transmission.
