2019 Maruti Alto 800 (facelift) starts reaching dealerships [Video]

Earlier this month, it was reported that production of the Maruti Alto 800 has been suspended, but that's not the case. A couple of Youtube videos have revealed that the company has given the entry-level model a facelift and upgraded its safety to continue selling it.

The 2019 Maruti Alto 800 features a revised front-end with a new upper grille and lower grille, redesigned bumper with C-shaped corners provision for fog lights/LED DRLs and a repositioned Suzuki logo. The side profile remains completely unaltered, while at the rear, there are revised tail lamps with a new motif.

On the inside, the 2019 Maruti Alto 800 features a grey and beige dual-tone theme. A highlight of the cabin is the highly revised centre console, which has a more flowing design than that of the outgoing version. The updated small car features a handful of additional safety features that enable it to gain compliance with the updated norms. These comprise ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert system and front seatbelt reminder.

In all likelihood, the specifications of the 2019 Maruti Alto 800 completely mirror those of the previous version. The outgoing model draws its juice from a 796 cc three-cylinder petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 48 PS and a peak torque of 69 Nm. It delivers an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 20.7 km/l. A 5-speed manual transmission, similarly, should have remained standard.

It has been reported that the next-gen Maruti Alto, which will be the production version of the Maruti Future-S Concept, could launch in the fourth quarter of the current calendar year. Codenamed ‘Maruti Y1K’, it will not use the F8D 796 cc three-pot mill.
