2019 Maruti Baleno features leaked, gains 2019 WagonR’s new SmartPlay system
Key features of the 2019 Maruti Baleno have leaked online, and among them is the new SmartPlay infotainment system that looks the same as the 2019 Maruti WagonR’s SmartPlay Studio unit.
In addition to the new system with a more colourful homescreen, the 2019 Maruti Baleno features new black and blue fabric upholstery and refreshed ornamentation.
On the outside, a chunkier front bumper design, new lower air intake and precision-cut wheels are aimed at enhancing the Maruti Baleno’s sportiness. The new alloy wheels look smaller than the 16-inch alloy wheels of the old model. Exterior changes include new upper grille, LED projector headlamps and new fog lamp garnish.
As before, Maruti Suzuki will extend the Baleno through its NEXA chain in four grades: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The Sigma grade features reverse parking sensors, as well as front passenger SBR, black and blue interior and speed alert system, all of which are new additions to the car.
Halogen projector headlamps were included only in the Alpha grade previously. LED projector headlamps have replaced them, and they are included in Delta, Zeta and Alpha grades. Alloy wheels are still a part of the standard equipment in only the Zeta and Alpha grades.
Maruti Suzuki isn’t bringing changes to the engine compartment with the facelift. The K12M 1.2-litre VVT naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 84.30 PS and 115 Nm of torque, and it is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The 1.3-litre DDiS 190 diesel engine develops 75.05 PS and 190 Nm of torque, and it is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Baleno’s prices were hiked just earlier this month, and so, they should remain unchanged with the mid-life update. The most basic configurations costs INR 5.42 lakh*, while the range-topping configuration retails at INR 8.55 lakh*.
