2019 Mercedes B-Class vs. 2015 Mercedes B-Class - Old vs. New

Daimler has taken the wraps off the 2019 Mercedes B-Class at the Paris Motor Show. Here’s a visual comparison of the third generation model with its predecessor.

The third-gen Mercedes B-Class embodies the new 'Sensual Purity' design language.

The third generation Mercedes B-Class looks sportier and chicer than its predecessor, and it has much resemblance of the fourth generation Mercedes A-Class.

The more upright front-end, low-profile Multibeam LED headlamps, slightly lowered roofline, larger, 19-inch wheels and sleeker rear combination tail lamps elevate the vehicle’s sportiness. The all-new model is more rounded and has a progressive design. The drag coefficient is down to 0.24 Cd now (predecessor: 0.25 Cd).

The Mercedes B-Class is all about its practicality. So, while the more chic exterior is a bonus, the interior looks markedly improved in terms of aesthetics, comfort, and convenience. The minimalist design is heavily inspired by that of its sister model, but it uses more straight lines than curves for simplicity.

The seats offer a flatter seating position and a larger adjustment range. The former results in a more comfortable seating position, while the latter increases the maximum headroom. Improved passage over the centre tunnel in the rear has made accessing the middle seat easier. The MBUX infotainment system with artificial intelligence that debuted in the latest G-Class has made it to the B-Class. The dual-display setup comprising a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central display is another commonality.

The 2019 Mercedes B-Class has a cleaner interior design with increased digitalisation.
