2019 Mitsubishi Triton (facelift) - IAB Rendering

IAB’s rendering specialist Shoeb Kalania has whipped up a near-production rendering of the 2019 Mitsubishi Triton. The facelifted model will go on sale in Thailand later this year.

With the signature 'Dynamic Shield' induced at the front, the Mitsubishi Triton looks broader and more stable.

While there is no doubting its capabilities in the field, the fourth generation Mitsubishi Triton isn’t much of a looker unlike arch rivals Ford Ranger and Nissan Navara. That’s what the designers are about to change drastically with the mid-cycle program.

The new Mitsubishi Triton will look sportier and stronger with a more contemporary design. As depicted by Shoeb, the one-tonne pickup truck will feature the Dynamic Shield, which is the brand’s signature X-shaped motif for the front-end. Narrow headlamps underlined by chrome streaks flowing into the new bumper, new grille layout and design and sharper repositioned fog lamp, are the defining changes.

On the sides, the toughness is enhanced by more pronounced wheel arches, now in a squircle shape. New six-double-spoke alloy wheels, likely 18-inchers, uplift the sporty appeal of this Asian workhorse. Spy shots suggest that at the rear, the updated model will feature new tail lamps and bumper. No information on the interior and mechanical revisions are available as of date.

Currently, Mitsubishi offers many different petrol and diesel engine options, including the 132 PS 4G64 2.4-litre petrol unit, the (110 PS/128 PS/136 PS/178 PS) 4D56 2.5-litre diesel unit and the (181 PS) 4N15 2.4-litre diesel unit. These engines are paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, a 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic transmission. Easy Select 4WD and Super Select 4WD-II are the 4x4 system choices, but if unrequired, RWD configurations are available.

The 2019 Mitsubishi Triton will likely go on sale in Thailand first. Pictured is the official teaser released this week.
