After teasing the 2019 Superb with a design sketch, Skoda has revealed its light setup in a video. The world premiere of the facelifted car will take place at the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia on the 23rd of this month.

The 2019 Superb is the first-ever Skoda to feature full-LED Matrix headlights, which is a major upgrade considering the fact the old model features Bi-Xenon headlamps. In addition to these new high-tech headlights, it features redesigned LED fog lights and full LED tail lights with dynamic indicators that illuminate in an outward sweeping motion.

The Matrix LED headlights comprise an LED modular for the dipped (low) and high beam as well as three further LED high beam segments. Their housings carry 'Skoda Crystal Lighting' lettering, above which there are needle-like LED structures. These are part of the new animated Coming/Leaving Home function. The elements of the headlights and tail lights turn on and off in a specified sequence when turning the car on and off.

"The revised model will boast even more safety and greater comfort." says the company.

In addition to the new lights, the facelifted model features revised radiator grille, new lower air intake, full-width chrome strip between the rear lights and Skoda lettering replacing the brand logo. On the inside, the car will likely feature new technologies borrowed from the Skoda Scala and the latest VW Passat (facelift), including new infotainment system options (with a screen size ranging from 6.5 inches up to 9.2 inches) from the third generation of the Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB3) and an 11.7-inch virtual instrument cluster.

The new Superb will be first-ever Skoda to be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This system will reportedly use a combination of a 154 PS 1.4L TSI turbocharged petrol engine and an 85 kW (115 PS) electric motor. It will deliver a net output of 215 PS. There's no word on any changes planned for the conventional engine line-up.

The facelifted Skoda Superb should hit the Indian market towards the end of this year or early next year.
