2019 TVS Apache RR 310 launched with slipper clutch
TVS Motor Company has updated its flagship motorcycle TVS Apache RR 310 with cosmetic as well as mechanical changes. The bike has gained a new Phantom Black colour scheme and slipper clutch. This has led to the price going up by INR 3,000 to INR 2.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Apache RR 310 is TVS’ first fully faired motorcycle based on the BMW G 310R. The newly introduced slipper clutch is already present in its arch-rival - the KTM RC 390. The new feature will likely increase the capabilities of the motorcycle at the race track. Riders will be able to quickly downshift without the rear wheel locking up and giving the rider a jolt. The clutch feedback will also improve thanks to the introduction of a slipper clutch.
While the Racing Black colour scheme had a matte finish, the Phantom Black colour scheme has a glossy finish. The bike has received new red and white stripes as well. Apart from these the 2019 TVS Apache RR 310 gets the recently introduced performance upgrades to the ECU, heavier bar end weights and chain roller right from the factory. Speaking at the launch, Mr K N Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO, TVS Motor Company said:
“We are excited to introduce the Race Tuned (RT) slipper clutch on the TVS Apache RR 310 and I am confident that our existing and new customers will appreciate this performance upgrade. The super-premium motorcycle, which is seen as an ultimate track weapon, originates from our racing pedigree and boasts of industry-first features. Equipping it with this technology is a natural progression for the bike. We also want to expand this experience to our existing TVS Apache RR 310 customers, who will appreciate the enhanced racing dynamics. The new styling upgrades accentuate the racing stance of the motorcycle and create customer delight.”
The powerplant remains mechanically the same. Powering the TVS Apache RR 310 is a 312.2 cc DOHC, 4-valve, liquid cooled, reverse inclined mill. Coupled to a 6-speed gearbox, the engine is capable of producing 34 PS of maximum power and 27.3 Nm of peak torque. The motorcycle is suspended over upside down fork up front and a monoshock tuned by KYB. Other features include projector headlamps and Michelin Street Sport tyres.
