The previous generation VW Polo and the VW Vento are soon going to get another facelift in India. The updated models have been spied at a dealership and during their commercial shoot, hinting imminent launch.

The new VW Polo GT features a new front fascia quite similar to that of the GTI variant that is no longer on sale.

The VW Polo seen here is in the GT variant. It gets a new front fascia quite similar to that of the GTI variant that was brought to India as a CBU import in limited numbers. It doesn't feature full-LED headlamps with red inserts, but it does seem to feature similar honeycomb grille and a similarly designed sharp bumper. On the sides, the decals have been removed and the new grey wheels have been fitted. On the sides, the decals have been removed and the new grey wheels have been fitted. At the rear, a (faux) diffuser, also reminiscent of the GTI variant, has been added. A closer inspection shows Euro-style tail lamps as well, adding one more count to the visual changes.

The new VW Vento is visible only fro, the rear and the sides. At the rear, the only main change visible is the inclusion of a faux diffuser, which is proportionate to slim underbody cladding running across the body. Side moulding and the new grey alloy wheels further add to the sportiness.

The VW Polo is available with a 1.0-litre MPI petrol engine, a 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine and a 1.5L TDI diesel engine. The VW Vento is sold with a 1.6L MPI petrol engine, a 1.2L TSI petrol engine and a 1.5L TDI diesel engine. By March 2020, these BS-IV engines will likely have been discontinued, collectively replaced by a locally manufactured, BS-VI 1.0L TSI petrol engine. Whether this new engine is introduced along with the upcoming minor refresh or not remains to be seen. What we know for sure, is that the updated models will offer greater safety to comply with the AIS 145 safety norms which kick in on 1 July 2019.

The VW Polo and VW Vento both will get a BS-VI 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine by 2020.
