Yamaha showcased its 2019 MT-03 at the Bangkok International Motor Show. The MT-03 was seen in the new Ice Fluo colour option that Yamaha added to the motorcycle in 2019. The Ice Fluo colour comes with red MT-03 branding and graphics on the fuel tank along with red paint for the alloy wheels. The combination gives the motorcycle an even more appealing look. Apart from Ice Fluo, the Yamaha MT-03 could also be purchased in Black and Blue options.

Yamaha introduced the Ice Fluo colour option (pictured) on the MT-03 in 2019. The theme includes red MT-03 branding on the fuel tank and red coloured wheels.

The changes to the motorcycle, for 2019, are limited to the new paint option. Hardware and mechanical components remain identical to the model it replaces. Propelling tasks are performed by 321cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valves engine that makes maximum power of 41.4 hp at 10,750 rpm and peak torque of 29.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The motor is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Anchoring tasks are performed by a 298 mm hydraulic single disc at the front and 220 mm hydraulic single disc at the rear. Shock absorption tasks are performed by 41 mm, conventional telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the back.

The MT-03 is due for an upgrade, and that is likely to happen next year. Yamaha is expected to bring new hardware with the Euro-V emission norms that would come into effect from April 2020. Similar to its fully faired sibling, the YZF-R3, the next generation MT-03 is likely to receive premium spec-sheet that would include full LED headlight and upside down telescopic front forks – features that are already seen on the international-spec MT-15.

Yamaha already offers the YZF-R3 in the Indian market, and it would not be a big surprise to see the MT-03 on our shores. India Yamaha Motor’s newly appointed Chairman, Motofumi Shitara has said in the past that the company would drift away from mass-market motorcycles and instead focus on the premium segment of the Indian market.
