The 2020 Hyundai ix25 has been spied yet again ahead of its Chinese launch in August this year. It was officially unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2019 in April.
Both the Hyundai ix25 and the Hyundai Creta have remained the same model in their first generation avatar. Now with the generation change, the ix25 has gone through an extreme design overhaul as per the requirements of the Chinese market, but in the markets such as Brazil and India where this design may not go down well, the next-gen Hyundai Creta will likely have a different, more sedate looks.
After the lifecycle makeover, the Hyundai ix25 now wears a very distinctive and aggressive design. At the front, it features a more prominent radiator grille flanked by vertically stacked futuristic looking two-tier LED headlamps. Its front fascia carries design inspiration from the Hyundai's flagship SUV, the Palisade. This design looks quite appealing and the company plans to rope in more younger buyers with it. At the rear, it features an offbeat light design, with vertically stacked, split tail lamps seemingly connected via a garnish strip.
ArrayThe 2020 Hyundai ix25 will be available with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine and 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The former churns out 130 PS of maximum power and 211 Nm of peak torque, while the latter delivers 125 PS of maximum power and 151 Nm of peak torque. While a 6-speed manual transmission could be standard, available options are said to include 6-speed automatic and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic units.
In India, the second-generation Hyundai Creta is most likely to be offered with newly developed 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engines of the facelifted Hyundai Verna. Apart from that, there will also be a 1.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine as seen on the Hyundai Venue. A 7-seat version is planned, and one of its engine options could be the 1.4-Litre turbocharged petrol unit that will be offered in India for the first time in the Kia Seltos. An AWD system may not be offered in our market due to low demand.
