2020 Hyundai Verna (facelift) & 2020 Hyundai ix25 (2020 Hyundai Creta) launched in China

Beijing-Hyundai launched the highly anticipated 2020 Hyundai Verna and 2020 Hyundai ix25 in China yesterday. The latter will be launched in India as the 2020 Hyundai Creta next year.

With the mid-cycle refresh, the Hyundai Verna’s 1.6-litre petrol engine has been dropped.

The 2020 Hyundai Verna has a more aggressive design and a more tech-laden equipment package. It measures 4,405 mm in length, 1,720 mm in width and 1,455 mm in height. Compared to the old model, the facelifted model is 25 mm longer, 8 mm narrower and 5 mm lower. The wheelbase, obviously, is the same - 2,600 mm.

With the mid-cycle refresh, the Hyundai Verna’s 1.6-litre petrol engine and 6-speed automatic transmission have been dropped. The 1.4-litre petrol engine, which produces 73.3 kW (99.66 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 132.4 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, has been retained. Instead of the standard 6-speed manual transmission that has been continued, buyers can opt for a CVT now.

Tri-part headlamps, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW) and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) are some of the key features of the 2020 Hyundai Verna.

The 2020 Hyundai Verna’s prices start at CNY 72,800 (INR 7,30,951.00) and go up to CNY 87,800 (INR 8,81,559.04).

With the full model change, the Hyundai ix25 has swapped its 1.6-litre petrol engines with a 1.5-litre petrol engine.

The 2020 Hyundai ix25 is the second generation of Hyundai’s first-ever small SUV worldwide. The all-new model features a Hyundai Palisade-inspired design that seems to be striking but on the outside but astonishingly sumptuous on the inside. Along with the design, the equipment and mechanicals are more sophisticated. The all-new model measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height. Compared to the first-gen model, it is 10 mm longer, 10 mm wider and anywhere from 2-26 mm lower. Its wheelbase, at 2,610 mm, is 20 mm longer.

With the full model change, the Hyundai ix25 has swapped its 1.6-litre petrol engines with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The all-new petrol engine, a naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit, produces 84.4 kW (114.75 PS) at 6,300 rpm and 143.8 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The 6-speed manual transmission has been retained, while the 6-speed automatic and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions have been replaced with a CVT.

LED headlights and tail lights, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, 10.4-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system, EPB with automatic hold function, 360 degree camera, Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Adaptive Smart Cruise Control (ASCC) and High Beam Assist (HBA) are some of the salient features of the 2020 Hyundai ix25.

The prices of the 2020 Hyundai ix25 range between CNY 1,05,800 (INR 10,62,288.68) and CNY 1,36,800 (INR 13,73,545.29).
