The Maruti Ciaz has been announced for a market launch in the coming weeks. We had compiled a list of 5 already known facts of the Ciaz earlier and here are 5 more things that have come to light today.

1. Mid-October launch

Bollywood Actor Ranveer Singh has been roped in as the brand ambassador.

The Maruti Ciaz will be launched by mid-October, though pre-launch bookings for the car will start tomorrow. Needless to say, it is expected to give stiff competition to the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and VW Vento.

2. Best-in-class efficiency

Maruti has clearly benchmarked the Ciaz with the new City, and has worked on the efficiency front.

The Ciaz diesel, which is good for 26.21 km/l, has taken over the baton from the Honda City as India's most fuel efficient car. The petrol Ciaz too delivers class-leading efficiency of 20.73 km/l.

3. Four variants each for petrol and diesel

The Ciaz will have all the bells-and-whistles expected from its segment.

The Honda City rival will be available in four variants, each in petrol and diesel (VXi/VDi, VXi+/VDi+, ZXi/ZDi and ZXi+/ZDi+). Features such as projector headlights, rear AC vents, driver armrest, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, a touchscreen infotainment system, dual-tone interior, steering mounted controls, reverse parking sensors, dual airbags and ABS would be seen on higher variants.

4. New SmartPlay infotainment system

The top-end Ciaz will benefit from the new touchscreen system.

The Ciaz gets Maruti's new 'SmartPlay' infotainment system which is basically a touchscreen infotainment system that doubles up for satellite navigation and as a reverse camera display. It features radio, USB, AUX-in, SD card, Bluetooth and voice recognition.

5. Engine specifications

The Ciaz's engines are carried over from the Ertiga.

The Maruti Ciaz will borrow powertrains from the Ertiga. The 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine is good for 92.45 PS (91.14 bhp) and 130 Nm of torque while the 1.3-litre DDiS (Fiat MultiJet) diesel dishes out 90 PS (88.7 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque. The engines come paired to 5-speed manual transmissions, though the petrol also gets the option of a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
