Abarth 124 Spider - Geneva Motor Show Live

Will go on sale in Europe in September.

The Abarth 124 Spider has made its world debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, following the reveal of the regular Fiat 124 Spider at NAIAS 2016. The new 124 Spider has been significantly modified to make it worthy of the Abarth badge.

Exterior changes include unique dual-tone colour scheme with the bonnet featuring matte black, exclusive LED headlights, front bumper with large air intake, 17-inch alloy wheels, windscreen surround and roll bars finished in Forgiato Grey, exclusive tail lights, quad exhaust tips, and wind tunnel-shaped rear bumper' aerodynamic extractor, rear spoiler and wind stop.

Interior features include a large rev counter with red background arranged in central position in the instrument panel, leather seats, aluminium pedal board, small-diameter steering wheel, short gear lever and engine start button on the dashboard.

The EMEA-spec Abarth 124 Spider is powered by a tweaked version of the standard EMEA-spec 2016 Fiat 124 Spider's 1.4-litre MultiAir engine. The turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine develops 170 hp (~120 hp/litre) and 250 Nm of torque in the Abarth 124 Spider. The Abarth variant will be available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic Sequenziale Sportivo gearbox choices. The latter will offer paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

For more dynamic driving and better handling, the Abarth variant also features "Abarth by Bilstein" dampers, together with stiffened anti-roll bars. The 0-100 km/h speed run is clocked in just 6.8 seconds, and the car can touch a top speed of 230 km/h. Stopping power comes from Brembo braking system with aluminum front callipers.

Features include adjustable and electrically-folded door mirrors, cruise control, manual climate control system and 4-speaker MP3 player with USB port. An infotainment system with 7-inch colour display, satellite navigation system, DAB digital tuner, two USB ports, AUX input and Bluetooth connectivity, a reversing camera as well as a 9-speaker Bose premium sound system.

The Abarth 124 Spider will go on sale in Europe with prices starting from €40,000. The performance variant will be available in five exterior colours: special solid "Turini 1975 White" and "Costa Brava 1972 Red", metallic "Isola d'Elba 1974 Blue", "Portogallo 1974 Grey" and "San Marino 1972 Black".
