After Indonesia, Suzuki Ertiga goes to Thailand
The Maruti Ertiga has been one of the strong selling products for the India's largest car manufacturer, right from the day one of its launch.
The compact crossover MPV based on the underpinnings of the Swift is highly sought after in Indonesia too. Maruti ships the CKD kits of the Ertiga to Indonesia where it is assembled for the local market.
After setting a strong foot hold in both of its primary markets, the Ertiga is now getting ready to invade Thailand, an another potential RHD Asian market. Matichon.co.th reports that the Suzuki Ertiga is scheduled to be launched on 19th of March. The media drive for the local journalists is said to have taken place on 4th of March.
The Ertiga for the Thai market adopts the same chrome slated grill as the Indonesian spec car. The 7 seater MPV's equipment levels are at par with its Indian and Indonesian counterparts.
The Thailand bound Suzuki Ertiga is powered by the familiar 1.4 litre K-Series petrol engine that capable of 94 bhp and 130 Nm of torque. The transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox.
It remains to be seen whether the Suzuki Ertiga would be assembled locally or imported either from India or Indonesia. No mater which way is preferred, India still continues to be the original source of the MPV.
