Report - BMW 3 Series rival, Alfa Giulia to launch next year

Power to come from 4- and 6-cyl engines.

According to Autocar, Alfa Romeo will revive the 'Giulia' for a new sports sedan that is expected to break cover at the 2015 Milan Expo in the summer of 2015.

Design inspiration for the new sedan would come from the 4C.

As part of Alfa Romeo's latest product strategy, the 3-series sized Giulia will make its first appearance in June. So far, a prototype of the Giulia has been spotted wearing its cousin, Ghibli's clothes. Sources suggest that the design will draw inspiration from the hot favorite - the Alfa Romeo 4C.

Under the hood, the Giulia will offer a range of inline four and V6 petrol and diesel engines, with power ratings as high as 320 hp for the V6 model. Also in the cards is a high performance version, maybe badged the Giulia Cloverleaf, that will output upto 500 hp to rival established supersaloons like the BMW M3 and the Mercedes-AMG C63. What makes the package even sweeter is that Giulia will sit on a RWD architecture, a first for the Italian brand since 1992.

Models like the Giulietta are headed for a replacement in the coming years, as per the revival plan.

The new platform and the engines will also give people an insight as to what they can expect from future Alfa Romeo models that will be launched under their revival plan.
