Aprilia SR125 with ARAI sticker spotted in India

The Aprilia SR 150 is the first Aprilia to be made in India.

A unit of the Aprilia SR Motard 125 has been spotted by a Rushlane reader. The scooter also bears an ARAI sticker connoting that Aprilia is considering it for the Indian market.

The Aprilia SR125 is powered by a 124 cc mill producing 9.6 PS of power and 8.2 Nm of torque.

The scooter was spotted at a dealership in Bangalore last year. Mr Stefano Pelle, Chief Executive and Managing Director, Piaggio India, had earlier expressed his wish to concentrate on premium scooters.

The Aprilia SR Motard 125 may go by the name Aprilia SR125 in India and will be manufactured at Piaggio India’s Baramati facility. The scooter spotted bears the SR150 badging on the sides but bears a small SR125 sticker on the engine casing signifying its real identity.

Powering the Aprilia SR125 is a 124 cc single cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled mill capable of producing 9.6 PS of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 8.2 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The scooter also gets 220 mm disc up front and a 140 mm drum unit in the rear, has a fuel tank of 7-litre and a ground clearance of 175 mm. The Aprilia SR 125 will get tubeless 120/70 specification tyre at both ends with 14-inch wheels.

The Aprilia SR125 has the same styling as the SR150 and will be built at Piaggio India's Baramati facility.
