The Aprilia Storm 125 that was displayed at Auto Expo 2018 had a disc brake at the front. However, at launch, a disc brake is available neither as standard nor as an option. Maybe the disc brake variant will be launched a few months down the line, possibly at a premium of INR 2,500-3,000 over the drum brake variant.

The Storm 125 is based on the SR125. Styling cues include matte base paint with bold graphics. Aprilia will offer several accessories, such as a tall windscreen, to customise the scooter. The headlight is placed on the apron while the front blinkers sit on the handlebar. The panel on the handlebar has a black finish.

Mechanical specifications include a 124.49 cc air-cooled motor that churns out 9.51 bhp at 7,250 rpm and 9.8 Nm at 6,250 rpm. Stopping power, as mentioned above, comes from drum brakes on both wheels, while the safety net includes CBS as standard. Unlike the SR125, the Storm 125 rides on 12-inch wheels. Its tyres are sourced from Vee Rubber.

The Aprilia Storm 125 also shares its chassis with the SR125. The scooter comes equipped with a single-piece pillion grab rail – a feature that was not present on the model that was displayed at the Auto Expo 2018.

The Storm 125 competes with likes of TVS Ntorq 125 and Honda Grazia in India. The 125 cc TVS scooter is priced at INR 65,010 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The TVS Ntorq 125 drum brake variant retails at INR 58,252*, while the Honda Grazia drum brake model is available for INR 60,723*.

The Aprilia Storm 125 was scheduled to arrive by the end of 2018. However, the unsold inventory of the Aprilia SR125 reportedly caused the delay in launch. It has started to arrive at select dealerships.
