Ashok Leyland Stile launching on the 5th of October?

According to our buddies at OnCars.in, Ashok Leyland is gearing up to introduce the Stile in India on the 5th of October. Regulars at IndianAutosBlog.com would know that Ashok Leyland held an unveiling in Chennai when Mr. Carlos Ghosn, Chairman of the Renault-Nissan alliance, was in India to launch Datsun in mid-July.

Ashok Leyland Stile front fascia
The front of the Stile differs completely from the Evalia.

Shown as a concept at the Delhi Auto Expo last year, the Ashok Leyland Stile is a Nissan Evalia with revised styling. The front fascia is redesigned with a more flowing design.

Other notable differences when compared to the Nissan Evalia are the inclusions of sliding rear windows, rear wiper, washer and defogger, and a floor mounted aircon vent for the second row passengers.

The Stile gets sliding windows unlike the Evalia's butterfly type design.

Mechanically, the Stile is a diluted Evalia, as outputs have been detuned to 75bhp and 185Nm from the 1.5-liter engine (rebranded 'Diet'). The same five-speed manual gearbox is retained. Ashok Leyland announced at the unveiling that the vehicle would be introduced in diesel and CNG variants.

The Stile can seat eight people and is designed for hotel shuttles, taxi services, ambulance operators, panel van application and courier companies.

Wiper, washer and defogger are available to the rear windshield.

The Stile would compete with the Tata Sumo Gold, Chevrolet, Tavera and the Tata Winger.
