A possible look at the next generation A8.

Audi presented the Prologue Concept at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show last week, previewing the design of its future cars, and also a long mooted A9 flagship.

The Prologue hints at the next generation A8, or a flagship A9.

Seen here is our artist Shoeb’s take on a productionized version of the Prologue with four doors. Given that Audi’s head designer, Marc Lichte, has said that every design element of the Prologue will be seen on future cars, this could very well be the look of the next generation A8, which has already started its early testing phase.

The front fascia is characterized by a large Singleframe grille and sharply cut headlight clusters which could feature Audi’s new Laser lighting technology. The side profile of the luxury sedan sees smooth creases and an almost coupe-like roof with slender pillars.

The concept had minimal buttons thanks to OLED panels on the dashboard.

The rear of the concept, according to Audi, was made to resemble a luxurious yacht, and the rear windscreen was angled towards the driving direction of the car. The interior saw OLED panels scattered over the dashboard and the center tunnel, with minimal use of physical buttons.

The Prologue was powered by the 4.0-liter V8 TFSI engine paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s traditional Quattro 4WD system. The engine, claimed Audi, could haul the 2 tonne concept from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.
