Live - Audi RS 7 launched at INR 1.28 crores
The first launch of 2014 is Audi's most powerful car in its Indian portfolio. The German carmaker launched its performance-oriented RS 7 in India today.
Unveiled globally at the Detroit Motor Show in January last year, the RS 7 is the high-performance variant of the A7 sportback. Power comes from a 4.0-liter TFSI TwinTurbo V8 producing 560 hp at 6,700 rpm and 700 Nm of torque from 1,750 rpm. You read that right, the RS 7 produces more power than an R8 equipped with a Lamborghini-sourced 5.2-liter V10 engine.
As a result, the RS 7 does the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds and hits a top-speed of 250 km/h. Optionally, European customers can have this limit raised to 305 km/h. Power is sent to all four wheels using an 8-speed automatic transmission, while Audi's traditional Quattro system vectors 40 percent of the power to the front wheels and the remaining to the rear.
Using Cylinder On Demand (COD) technology which shuts off cylinders during light loads, the RS 7 is able to achieve 10.7 km/l in the European driving cycle conditions.
The RS 7 is priced at INR 12,856,000 lakhs (ex-Showroom, Mumbai). The vehicle is brought into the country via the CBU (Completely Built up Unit) route from Audi's Neckarsulm plant located in Germany.
Stay tuned for a detailed spec sheet comparison of the RS 7 versus its competition.
