Maruti Dzire sales touch almost 31,000 units in August
According to the latest monthly four wheeler sales figures, the Maruti Dzire clocked close to 31,000 units for the month of August 2017. MSIL sold 30,934 units of the compact sedan, which is the highest ever recorded for the Dzire in a single month.
The Maruti Dzire managed to outpace the erstwhile leader Maruti Alto, which sold 21,521 units, by 9,413 units. In the compact sedan segment, the Hyundai Xcent was the next best seller clocking 3,467 units. It should be noted, however, that the 30,934 figure is inclusive of the new Dzire and the previous generation model sold as the Tour S targeted at the taxi market.
Seven spots on the list of the top 10 highest selling cars in India in August 2017 are occupied by MSIL products helping the company grab a market share of 52.14%. The only other manufacturer who made it to the top 10 is Hyundai with its Grand i10, Elite i20 and Creta making the list.
Newer models like the 2017 Hyundai Verna and Jeep Compass posted strong figures as well. The Verna registered sales of 4,779 units. Although still lower than the Ciaz (6,457) and City (5,538), it is yet to experience its first full month on sale. FCA shipped 2,020 units of the Jeep Compass outselling the Tata Hexa (1,715).
