The report adds that Bajaj Auto has appointed Sarang Kanade to replace Eric Vas as the president of the motorcycle business. Kanade would be responsible for pushing the sales of the Avenger, V15, Dominar and Discover.

Meanwhile, Vas would take over the company’s new unit, Urbanite Business from Sumeet Narang, who would now handle the Probiking Business. It is a crucial time for the Probiking as the operations would soon witness the addition of Husqvarna. The Swedish brand has been testing its Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 motorcycles in India. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto has stated in the past that the Husqvarna would launch in India in 2019 and could have up to six models. Husqvarna's global range includes products in Enduro, Motocross, Supermoto, Svartpilen and the Vitpilen segments.

KTM is also expected to expand its product portfolio with the launch of the 790 Duke, which could be followed by 390 and 790 Adventure. In fact, the 790 Duke would reportedly arrive in the Indian market in April 2019. We are yet to hear an announcement from KTM.

Bajaj’s Urbanite brand would spawn an electric scooter that is expected to debut in the first half of Fiscal Year 2020. Bajaj would later move into other formats of the intra-city mobility solutions. The electric vehicles would be sold via a separate retail network.

Apart from the reshuffle of management, Bajaj Auto has also announced KTM-Bajaj 2.0 to develop strategies and technologies that would leverage future mobility. Electric mobility could have a significant role in the next phase of the alliance. KTM has been building electric motorcycles since 2012 and Bajaj would benefit from the Austrian brand’s expertise in the segment.
