While Bajaj Auto remains tight-lipped about the launch of the Avenger 160 ABS, a new report from Autocar India claims that the Avenger 180 replacement will be priced at INR 81,036 (ex-showroom Pune).

The Bajaj Avenger 160 ABS will reach showrooms in the first week of May 2019.

According to the report, the Bajaj Avenger 160 ABS will reach showrooms in the first week of May 2019. Its claimed price is approximately INR 7,000 lower than that of the Avenger 180, which never received the safety feature. However, it should be noted that a teaser image of the Bajaj Avenger 180 ABS was revealed in February 2019.

The 160 cc variant of the Avenger cruiser range will reportedly be powered by the Pulsar NS160's 160.3 cc oil-cooled motor that delivers 15.5 PS of power at 8,500 rpm and 14.6 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. This engine is coupled to a five-speed gearbox. In comparison, the Avenger 180 Street’s 178 cc engine also makes 15.5 PS at 8,500 rpm although the torque output is relatively lower at 13.7 Nm (delivered at 6,500 rpm).

As on the Avenger 180, stopping power will come from a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the back. Like the most of the recently updated Bajaj models, the Avenger 160 ABS will feature a single-channel ABS with Rear-Lift Protection (RLP) as standard. Conventional telescopic forks and twin-sided springs at front and back respectively will perform shock absorption tasks.

The styling will most likely be identical to the Avenger 180 although the 160 cc variant may have different graphics and colour options.

The reported price tag of the Bajaj Avenger 160 ABS undercuts the Suzuki Intruder by a considerable margin. The Suzuki Intruder costs INR 1,01,362 (ex-showroom Delhi) onwards.

The Bajaj Avenger 160 ABS will most likely look identical to the Avenger 180 Street (pictured).

Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, has said that the company would use the BS-VI emission norm upgrade to introduce the next-generation Avenger range. Expect the next-generation cruiser range to come equipped with full-LED headlight and a digital instrument console among other premium features.
