After the Platina 100 ComforTec and CT100, Bajaj Auto has extended its 'Goodbye 2018' offer to its flagship motorcycle, the Dominar 400. Valid till December 31, the offer gives buyers the benefits of five free (labour only) services, free five-year own damage insurance and free five-year warranty of the purchase of the Dominar 400.

The Goodbye 2018 offer provides benefits of free insurance, free service and free warranty on select motorcycles. The Goodbye 2018 is an extension of 5-5-5 offer that was introduced during the festive season.

The move is on the back of several months of underperformance. For reference, Bajaj Auto sold just 659 units of its flagship motorcycle in October, 1,095 units in September, 1,122 units in August, 1,381 units in July, 1,277 units in June and 1,191 units in May 2018.

Readers would know that Bajaj will soon launch the upgraded version of the Dominar 400 and the Goodbye 2018 Offer is to clear the existing stock before the 2019 model arrives. A report from earlier this month claimed that the new Dominar 400 would receive a more powerful engine tuning. The report added that the 2019 Dominar 400 will receive a flat torque curve and feel more refined than the model that it replaces.

The outgoing model uses a 373 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 35 PS of maximum power and 35 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed transmission and features a slipper clutch.

The previous sighting of the 2019 Dominar 400 revealed the updated hardware list that included a mild revision to the colour theme with more blacked out area on the fuel tank, upside-down telescopic front suspension, a new exhaust design and a larger radiator. A report from October 2018 suggested that the model will also get a ride-by-wire throttle system, and updated instrumentation with features like a gear-position indicator, average fuel efficiency, distance to empty and instantaneous fuel economy.

The Goodbye 2018 offer is also aimed at clearing the inventory of the outgoing Bajaj Dominar 400 before the updated model (rendered) is launched in the Indian market.

Apart from the aforementioned changes, the Dominar 400 will retain its muscular styling, and a feature list that includes full LED headlight, split instrument console, MRF tyres and dual-channel ABS.
