Bajaj’s flagship motorcycle, the Dominar 400, has received another price hike in 2018. In the latest revision, Bajaj Auto has increased the rate of the Dominar 400 by INR 1,000 (ex-showroom). The standard Bajaj Dominar 400 will now cost INR 1.49 lakh while the ABS-equipped version will be available for INR 1.63 lakh – both prices are ex-showroom.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 had received a price increase in September 2018 and March 2018.

Previously, Bajaj had raised the prices of the Dominar range in July 2018 when the bike got expensive by INR 2,000. Before that, the motorcycle had received an INR 2,000 price increase in March 2018.

Meanwhile, Bajaj is working on the updated, 2019 Dominar that will arrive in India shortly. The motorcycle was spotted on more than one occasion in the past. As seen in the spy images, the updated Bajaj Dominar 400 will continue to feature the muscular styling and receive updated hardware in the form of upside-down telescopic front suspension, a new exhaust and a larger radiator. The rear will continue to use a monoshock suspension.

The dual-tone paint combination will also receive a slight change and the updated Dominar range. The black section on the fuel tank takes up more space than the current Dominar 400.

The updated Dominar 400 is expected to arrive with a BS-VI emission ready motor. Regular readers would already know that the new emission norms are scheduled to come into effect from April 2020. The motorcycle will continue to use the 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine although it will receive exhaust system changes to comply with the new standards. For reference, the BS-IV compliant Dominar 400 delivers 35 PS of maximum power and 35 Nm of peak torque. The current generation model features a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch, and we expect to see the same setup on the updated motorcycle.

Regarding safety, the new norms would make ABS mandatory on all motorcycles above 125 cc starting April 2019. Thus, the base (non-ABS) variant has limited time left on the market. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, had confirmed in an interview that the company is "now going to market new Dominars."
