A new Bajaj Platina test mule has been spotted testing around Pune, courtesy of spy shots from Shifting-Gears.

The Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec will sit above the entry-level model of the Platina.

According to the website, the test bike is the Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec variant with the front disc brake. Bajaj currently sells the 102 cc variant of the Platina in the country that features alloy wheels and drum brakes. In January, Bajaj Auto showcased the 2018 Bajaj Platina Comfortec, which is priced in India at INR 47,405 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec will likely employ the 124.5 cc, single-cylinder engine from the Discover 125. The air-cooled, SOHC, DTS-i motor produces 11 bhp of maximum power at 7,500 rpm while developing a peak torque of 11 Nm at 5,500. The engine pairs to a 5-speed gearbox that transmits power to the wheel.

According to Shifting-Gears, the Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec could launch around the festive period (October 2018). The test mule gets 125 cc decal on the tail section panels, while it gets a yellow finish of the rear shock absorbers. Overall, the design is identical to the 100 cc variant with the LED daytime running lights above the headlight. A report in June said that Bajaj was planning a product blitz in the commuter and commuter deluxe segment where it has lost out to Hero Splendor and Honda CB Shine.

The Bajaj Platina 125 Comfortec could be priced INR 5,000 higher than the entry-level model at around INR 52,000 (ex-showroom). The larger engine and presence of front disc brake is likely to justify the higher price tag.

The Bajaj Platina 125 ComforTec will feature a front disc brake and a 124.5 cc engine from the Bajaj Discover 125.

That said, the standard model uses a 102 cc, 2-valve, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 7.90 PS of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and 8.34 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm, mated to a 4-speed gearbox.

The Bajaj Platina features telescopic front forks with 135 mm wheel travel, and spring in spring type twin shock absorbers at the rear with 110 mm wheel travel. The motorcycle comes with 17-inch alloy wheels that run on 80-section tubeless tires. The bike gets a fuel tank capacity of 11.5 litres, while the kerb weight stands at 111 kg. The Bajaj Platina comes with a saddle height of 807 mm along with a ground clearance of 200 mm.
