Base Mahindra XUV300 spotted, features revealed
The first images of the base Mahindra XUV300 are unofficially out, courtesy Autopunditz. The new sub-compact SUV is decently equipped for a base grade.
At the front, the entry-level grade of the Mahindra XUV300 misses out on the LED DRLs flowing out of the bumper, fog lamps and chrome grille inserts. It features LED tail lights, dual-tone interior colour scheme, audio system with a compact monochrome screen, power windows (four) with an auto-down function for the driver window, manual AC and large driver information display.
The range-topping Mahindra XUV300 features projector headlamps, dual LED DRLs, 17-inch machined alloy wheels, large touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control system, cruise control, sunroof and leather upholstery. It is equipped with two segment-first safety features: four-wheel disc brakes and seven airbags.
Mahindra has confirmed that it will offer the XUV300 with petrol and diesel engine options. Reports say that the petrol engine is an all-new 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder unit and the diesel engine is the 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit from the Mahindra Marazzo. Both engines, producing class-leading torque, will channel power to the front wheels via a standard 6-speed manual transmission. An AMT should follow at a later stage, but an AWD is unlikely.

Mahindra will launch the XUV300 on 15 February 2019. The company will produce the new sub-4 metre SUV in Nasik, Maharashtra. Exports are set to commence soon after the domestic launch, with South Africa becoming the Ford EcoSport challenger’s first overseas market. A pure electric variant is also planned in 2 variants, and it is scheduled to arrive in mid-2020.
