Bavina's electric car could have a top speed of 65kmph
A new electric car company Bavina Cars India, is setting up a manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu where Ford, Hyundai, BMW and others have already invested.
Bavina will launch a new electric car model in India by 2011. The Tamil Nadu State government has already allocated 100 acres of land in Special Economic Zone in Ranipat for Bavina to tower its facility.
Bavina's initial investment of Rs.300 crores, will be sufficient to roll out 25,000 vehicles yearly from 2011.
In India, currently, Reva Electric Car Company is the sole manufacturer of electric vehicles. Reva is the world's largest manufacturer of electric cars and its products have been shipped to many countries in Europe.
It is not clear whether Bavina will begin operations with LI-Ion powertrain cars. The official website cites its existing prototype's features will unlikely have an advanced system - 12V Lead Acid Battery and 65 km/h top speed.
The Li-Ion Reva has a world of advantages over the Lead Acid setup, cost the only proposition pooper.
