Benelli India had launched the TRK 502 and TRK 502X in India at INR 5 lakh* and INR 5.40 lakh* respectively. The launch prices were introductory and were valid for online bookings only. Last month, the company announced the first price increase for its middleweight adventure duo and both motorcycles got expensive by INR 10,000. With the new prices in effect, the TRK 502 costs INR 5.10 lakh*, while the TRK 502X is available at INR 5.50 lakh*.
As on 21 March, Benelli India received as many as 150 bookings for the TRK 502 and TRK 502X. Both motorcycles use the same 499.5 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, 8-valve, DOHC engine that makes 47 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 46 Nm at 6,000 rpm. This engine sends power to the rear wheel via a 6-speed transmission.
The TRK502X has off-road spec hardware that includes wire-spoke wheels with a 19-inch front. The larger front wheel helps to tackle the off-road obstructions more efficiently. The wheels are wrapped in dual-purpose Metzeler tyres. The road-biased TRK 502 uses 17-inch alloy wheels and Pirelli tubeless tyres.
Twin 320 mm discs and a 260 mm disc at the front and back perform anchoring tasks respectively. The off-road-focused TRK has a wave pattern for the rotors while the road-biased TRK comes with a conventional design. Switchable dual-channel ABS comes as standard. Suspension department includes 50 mm upside-down front forks and a vertically-mounted rear mono-shock.
The Benelli TRK 502X and the TRK 502 compete with the Suzuki V-Strom 650 and the Kawasaki Versys 650 respectively. The rivals retail in a relatively higher price bracket.
