9 motorcycle and scooter launches in India this festive season - IAB Picks

The Indian two-wheeler scene will witness at least 9 launches in the coming weeks. Most of the two-wheelers listed below will launch in India this month.

Mahindra Mojo

The Mahindra Mojo will be launched on October 16, ahead of which dealers have started accepting orders for INR 10,000. A 295 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine will develop 27 PS and 30 Nm of torque on Mahindra 2 Wheeler's flagship offering.

2015 Bajaj Avenger

Bajaj Auto has confirmed that it will launch three models of the new 2015 Bajaj Avenger in the coming days. The cruiser has already started arriving at select dealer outlets, and is propelled by the 199.5 cc single-cylinder engine from the Pulsar 200 NS.

Hero Maestro Edge and Hero Duet

The Hero Maestro Edge will be available from October 13, and is priced from INR 49,500, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. The Duet is announced to go on sale shortly thereafter. Both scooters are powered by Hero Motocorp's first self-developed engine, a 110.9 cc single-cylinder unit developing 8.31 bhp.

Honda CB Hornet 160R

HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) will launch the Honda CB Hornet 160R towards the end of this month, sources told Indian Autos Blog. Power for the Hornet will come from a 162.71 cc single-cylinder mill developing 14.5 bhp and 14.61 Nm of torque.

New TVS Apache 200cc

Several internet reports state that the Draken-inspired Apache will have its market introduction this festive season. Rumors state that a 200 cc single-cylinder engine will develop around 25 PS on the motorcycle. TVS Motor Company had said in June that a "high powered premium bike" will launch this year, but did not divulge details.

Suzuki Gixxer, Suzuki Gixxer SF with rear disc brake

Spyshots have shown the Suzuki Gixxer and the Suzuki Gixxer SF on test with a rear disc brake, indicating that Suzuki will offer this as an additional safety feature over the current variants. However, the motorcycles will continue with their 14.6 bhp 154.9 cc single-cylinder engine. A launch is expected in the festive season.

Honda 125 cc motorcycle 'Mystery motorcycle'

HMSI teased the silhouette of a new motorcycle, which appears to be a commuter bike that could be the spiritual successor to the Honda Shine. The market launch of the new commuter will be staged this year, the brand confirmed.

Kawasaki Versys 650

Kawasaki has already imported the Versys 650 for homologation, and reports state that a launch will take place by the end of this year. The Versys 650 will be the second offering under the Versys nameplate in India, and will slot below the Versys 1000 which went on sale in January this year.
