Could be unveiled in production-spec later this year.
A gallery of leaked sketches featuring components of the BMW 1 Series Sedan has leaked online, courtesy of Ferd. As of now, the BMW 1 Series Sedan is confirmed for the Chinese market, while the Indian market could be considered for launch as well.
Upon a closer look at the bumper and fender designs of the BMW 1 Series sedan, it appears that they look similar to that of the BMW Concept Compact Sedan from the 2015 Guangzhou Auto Show. Also revealed are the production-spec headlamp cutouts.
The compact sedan is designed around the traditional proportions of a BMW, as seen in spyshots of its test mules. What is not traditional is the UKL platform, BMW’s first ever FWD architecture. This makes it the first ever BMW FWD sedan.

The engine lineup is likely to be sourced from the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, which includes a 135 hp 1.5-liter three cylinder turbo petrol, 150 hp 2.0-liter three cylinder turbodiesel, and a 231 hp 2.0-liter four cylinder petrol option. A 6-speed manual, 6-speed Tiptronic or an 8-speed ZF automatic are the likely candidates to pair with these mills.
Rivals: Mercedes CLA, Audi A3 Sedan
