BMW 1 Series sedan's bumpers spied in the flesh
Munich's Audi A3 Sedan rival is nearing its D-Day in China.
In April, the forthcoming BMW 1 Series Sedan's exterior part drawings leaked online. Now, PCauto.com.cn has published what it claims is an image of the car's bumpers.
Inferred from the leak is that the front-end of the production model will look very close to the BMW Concept Compact Sedan's. The rear bumpers in the images however are of a different design, and have cutouts for the dual exhaust tips.
The interior too has been revealed to a large extent in another spy shot. The BMW 1 Series Sedan is seen sporting an analogue instrument panel, three-spoke steering wheel, electronic parking brake, free-standing LCD display on the dashboard for the iDrive, and dual HVAC vents in the centre console. The gearbox appears to be an automatic, probably a ZF-sourced 8-speed unit.

The BMW 1 Series Sedan will be based on the front-wheel drive UKL platform currently used by the BMW X1, BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer. It's expected to be offered with 1.5-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder and 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder petrol engines in China.
In India, if launched, a diesel engine option may also be offered in the 1 Series Sedan. International media reports claim that the sedan version of the BMW 1 Series may not be a global vehicle.
